Temat: RMT 1.16

New RMT tracker version 1.16 is out. My big thanks goes to Jaskier/Taquart for his great speed/size optimizations of Atari RMT routine! 8)

Raster! You rule! What do you think, would it be possible to convert "Human Race" tune to Atari?

Hm. I don't know Human Race tune, but I think every song can be converted to Atari if some good musician want it.  ;)

No need to do it...  :)

It was done many, many years before, when WFMH ruled Atari 8-bit scene...  They use this converted tune in one of parts of THE TOP #3 demo.
This music can be found here. I also put FUTURE COMPOSER itself there.  8)

Gentelmen,

FUTURE COMPOSER was programmed by MAGNUS in 1991.
And he was clever enough to use some "uncommon" shortcuts...

1. Load FC
2. Press SHIFT+I   (i/o operations)
3. Press "L", enter  D:MUSAK.FC
4. Press "E" (enters main editor)
5. Press F4 in emu (or Option, or Select or maybe Start)

I hope I told ya it as it works...  :)

nice muzax in FC but the proggy really sucks...

I Ty zostaniesz big endianem...

13

THis proggy doesn't suck.... It was first modern and serious music editor for small Atari, as far as I know....   I saw it in action during ATARI STARS PARTY in 1990 and was absolutely amazed...  and what a lovely  Gilmore's sound  it could create!  8)

Hey Raster, do you know there are some sources from Henryk Cygert available?  :)   There is included a small music converter in one of them... Its aim was to convert music from FC to ASF's SOUNDT TRACKER program.  Why not write such converter between FC and RMT ?  ;)

8O Eh. I didn't found this nice shotcut. Yes, it works!

I suspected someone say this.  :?
Hmmm... I think it will be better if you will compose new songs in RMT instead of converting well-known Atari songs from FC to RMT.  ;)

He he... Or maybe Jaskier will support importing of FC in TMC2.0 composer, ask him.  ;)

I have one question: why you suggest support of FC files in TMC or RMT? It is dead format, I heard in my career only few musics from this prog.

You're right. I suppose it was joke only from Dracon...  ;)

As for FC itself, it had some advantages:
- clear, oldschool sound
- short (well packed) music modules
- one of the shortest player routines for A8  (useful in demos as noticed KONOP in the past).

It was used by few musicans like Zur-soft, Tomasz Liebich or Top Odin.
I counted about 20 FC tunes (mainly from Polish games) or above....  :)

Hmmm... what I mainly meant was to add FC import filter into RMT.
I'd love to hear e.g. "HUMANOID" tune from within RMT (and it would be great if someone will improve it to be played stereo!).  As I wrote before, it doesn't seem to be very hard as some sources still exists....
And sorry Raster, I'm unable to compose any (cool) tune in RMT esp. from scratch....  I'm no musican or at least I think so.    :P

yes ..humanoid tune still rox ..was it original or some conversion ?

I did one song in FC - it was some C64 rip for Operation Blood.

It was extreme pain as I am not a musician and FC was really tricky. FC was one of the fist (if not first at all) legal applications for Atari I had - I remember the copy protection was extremely lame (like jsr test_protection ) what surprized us a lot (I got a parcel from postman, copied the floppy and 2 minutes later had the working unprotected copy), because Magnus was known for his very advanced coding (as for this time).

Having said all bad about FC I must say that the sound quality was far superior over boring CMC stuff.

take care,

pawel
